H.E.Y.
Home Educators Yeovil

The Yeovil Home Education Group formed in March 2009 for families in the Yeovil area.
We meet on a Friday morning from 9.30am – 1.00pm at Birchfield Community Centre, Birchfield Road, Yeovil, BA21 5RL.

Each session begins with friendly games, ball games, country dancing, unihockey etc.
The rest of the morning is spent on activities like:  topical projects, exploring science, music, languages, modelling, sewing, cooking, and ‘Littles’ singing and story time.   The children contribute to their own interest tables, share in ‘show and tell’ plus many more things.

We rely on sessions being organised by all families attending, so activities will always be open to diversity!

Each family is responsible for their children during the session.

The group aims to bring home educating families together to learn and to share their interests and talents, in a fun and friendly, considerate environment.

The group will have a maximum size based on the number of children attending; in order to keep the group friendly and involved.

Sessions are roughly planned around school terms and holidays.  Each half term consists of about 6 weeks.

Due to personal expenditure involved in hiring the Centre and resources, sessions are payable half a term in advance.

The cost of one session for a family with:

1-2 children £4
3-4 children £5
5+ children £6

The Community Centre is a clean, bright, welcoming place with kitchen area, toilets, a large hall with a stage which can be used for drama or sports and a further smaller hall which can be divided.  There is plenty of room to accommodate children of all ages and to do different activities at the same time.

There is an adjoining enclosed outside play area and a large field we can also use for sports and picnics.
There is ample parking.

We hope all this information is of some help to you.
